Mesotherapy for Your Weight loss

Mesotherapy is widely practiced for a weight-loss technique

Mesotherapy is The French technical-medical All figures are in these days. 1952 in France, developed by Dr. Michel Pistor, who was originally listed for the treatment of infectious diseases and vascular diseases, sports injuries, and improves blood circulation, technique inject small amounts of drugs in various mesoderm, the layer of fat and connective tissue under the skin. The theory is that injecting small amounts of these substances in the mesoderm, the fat is rendered below.

Since 1952, about 15,000 doctors in France and South America helped mesotherapy, and now doctors in the U.S. are quickly jumping on the bandwagon. In August, around 40 doctors attended the first intensive course in Mesotherapy in the U.S., this course offered by the International Society of Mesotherapy and Pan American Society of Mesotherapy, doctors have had to travel to France, will be presented to trained personnel.

"Spectacular" Results
One of those who did just that is Marion Shapiro, DO, a former emergency room doctor who is the director of Mesotherapy Associates PC in New York City and West Orange, N.J. Since opening her practice last year, Shapiro sees approximately 150 patients a week. Mesotherapy doesn't work in approximately 5% of patients, says Shapiro, but in the other 95%, "the results are spectacular."

Patients come to Shapiro seeking a quick fix for cellulite, spot weight reduction, or overall weight loss. The compounds injected depend upon what Shapiro is trying to treat -- i.e. cellulite vs. fat -- but generally include a combination of medications such as aminophylline and Novocain and plant extracts and vitamins. The compounds injected are all FDA-approved for their original use, says Shapiro. But they have not been approved specifically for mesotherapy.

According to Shapiro, mesotherapy can be used to treat everyone, from obese people who need treatment on the trunk, abdomen, buttocks, arms, and legs, as well as those who are generally thin but frustrated at dealing with stubborn fatty areas such as saddlebags or love handles. After the fat is melted, it is naturally excreted. Unlike endermologie, a noninvasive technique of treating cellulite, mesotherapy is permanent, says Shapiro, provided the patient doesn't gain the weight back. In order to facilitate more rapid results for her patients and help them keep the weight off in the future, Shapiro gives each of her patients what she calls a "Meso Meal Plan."

Acupuncture Therapy is a Chinese therapy that has been used for centuries. It is based on the theory that energy flow called qi or chi in the body. Whatever it is assumed that the flow on the lines of energy called meridians. Acupuncturists believe a blocking or imbalance in the flow of chi at any point on a road can cause disease. Doctors of Chinese medicine, acupuncture believe in balance and free flow of Chi to heal.

People often use acupuncture to treat pain. Western medical researchers who have studied acupuncture believe that it may reduce pain through body chemicals, calming effects (opioid peptides), or glands (such as the hypothalamus) that produce substances the body uses.

Traditional Chinese acupuncture usually is done by placing a very fine needle into the skin in certain areas of the body the energy flow in the meridians of the body to exert their influence. Other forms of acupuncture may use heat, pressure or a mild electric current to the energy flow along these meridians to stimulate.

What is acupuncture used for?

People use acupuncture to relieve pain and treat certain health conditions. You can use it by itself or as part of a treatment program. Studies have found promising results for the use of acupuncture in treating nausea and vomiting related to pregnancy, chemotherapy, and postsurgery pain. Acupuncture also may be useful for:
  • Stroke rehabilitation, which involves relearning skills that a person lost because of brain damage from a stroke.
  • Headache. A recent study shows that adding acupuncture to standard treatment leads to significant, long-lasting relief from chronic headaches, especially migraines.1
  • Menstrual cramps.
  • Tennis elbow.
  • Fibromyalgia, or widespread pain and tenderness of muscle and soft tissue.
  • Myofascial pain, caused by spasm in the muscles.
  • Osteoarthritis, or the breakdown of the tissue (cartilage) that protects and cushions joints. A recent study found that acupuncture can reduce knee pain and increase movement of the knee in people with osteoarthritis.2
  • Low back pain.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome, or pressure on a nerve in the wrist that results in tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain of the fingers and hand.
  • Asthma, or inflammation in the tubes that carry air to the lungs, resulting in periodic episodes of difficulty breathing, wheezing, chest tightness, and coughing.
  • Dental pain.

Leech Therapy to refresh you blood

Leeches are disgusting little creatures that live on blood. They have been used for bogus "medical purposes" for centuries. George Washington was leeched and bled so often that it has been determined that this may have been the major cause of his death. For some reason, medical practitioners of centuries past felt that many of the body's illnesses were due to disorders of the blood. By removing a great deal of blood, either by special surgical knives/scalpels, or by our little friend, the leech; a miraculous cure would result. That theory does not make scientific sense...at all. This is pure baloney. Blood is needed to orchestrate the cure by transporting white blood cells, plasma, and immunoglobulins to the site of infections or injury. Remove too much blood; you die, by George.

Leeches do have modern uses, however, especially in plastic surgery. Accumulated blood under a wound lifts the tissue and prevents it from attaching. In most cases, we insert surgical drains to allow this old blood to come out. However, surgical drains, themselves, can leave unsightly scars.

Accumulated blood (hematoma) is also a reservoir for infection. By attaching these little creatures instead of a drain, the blood will be painlessly sucked out of the wound, reducing infection and improving the cosmetic outcome. Leeches have been successfully used by surgeons who have reattached amputated fingers or toes. ENTs have attached them to outer ears that have been traumatized, thus preventing a cauliflower ear deformity.

Now, if someone discovers a lipo-leech that sucks fat out of overweight people, I will be first in line. And, I will even become a breeder; perhaps start my own leech-o-suction clinic, Demi Moore said.

There is so much quackery out there in the world, that I can't even believe it. One of my old physician colleagues once traveled to Czechoslovakia in the 70's to get injections of sheep embryos that were purported to promote longevity. Someone really pulled the wool over his eyes! One of my old patients read that bee stings cure arthritis, so rather than pay to get this unproven treatment; he just caught his own bees and tried to get them to sting him in the shoulder. The bees, of course, did not know that he had arthritis in his shoulder, so they stung him repeatedly in the hand.

Spa Body Treatments and its essential

By Anitra Brown, About.com

Spa body treatments are essentially a facial for your whole body. It is just as important to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin on your body as it is the skin of your face.

The most popular body treatment is a salt glow or sea-salt scrub. This is an exfoliating treatment that takes place on a massage table covered with a sheet and a large, thin piece of plastic.

As you lay on your stomach, the massage therapist rubs a mixture of sea salt, oil, and aromatics like lemon into your skin. This exfoliates the skin and leaves it feeling velvety soft.

Once your whole body is scrubbed, which takes maybe ten or fifteen minutes, you shower it all off without soap, leaving a nice coating of oil. It's an invigorating treatment, and it's a good idea to get your scrub before your massage if you're having both.

Variations can come from the essential oils or scrub materials: you might get an orange blossom/peppermint salt glow or a cucumber salt glow, or a body scrub done with coffee grounds, finely ground pecan shells or Napa Valley grape seeds.

A body mask and body wrap often takes place after a scrub. After you rinse off the salt you return to the treatment table. If you're slathered with mud, algae, or seaweed and wrapped in a thermal blanket, it's a "detoxifying" treatment that stimulates your metabolic system, speeding its ability to carry away waste products. If the product is cream or lotion, it's a "hydrating" treatment.

A body wrap can also be a wrapping treatment used to treat cellulite. It sometimes has a diuretic effect that aids in temporary weight reduction.

Massage Therapy for Stress Relief

Massage Therapy for Stress Relief and Much More

Experts describe massage tips you can try on yourself to ease headaches, back pain, and to help you relax.
By Susan Seliger, Reviewed by Brunilda Nazario, MD

Few sensual experiences rival a full-body massage for pleasure and stress relief -- at least among those things you can talk about in front of the children at the dinner table. Word on the health benefits of massage therapy for stress relief has spread. In 2006, 39 million Americans -- one in six adults -- had at least one massage, according to a nationwide survey by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

"Americans are looking to massage for much more than just relaxation," says Mary Beth Braun, President of the AMTA. "Massage therapy can be effective for a variety of conditions, including arthritis, lower back pain, insomnia, headaches, anxiety, circulatory problems, and recovery from a sports injury."

When you can't get to a masseuse, you can still reap many of the benefits of this age-old healing practice -- with your own hands. WebMD consulted several massage experts to find these simple, self-massage techniques that incorporate the best soothing rubs and pressure-point applications that massage has to offer.

Try them on yourself -- or someone you love -- throughout the day to boost your energy and increase concentration. You can also use them at night to relax and get a good night's sleep. You'll find the benefits of massage therapy for stress relief are only the beginning.

Massage Therapy to Relieve Tired Eyes
"This one is great for tired eyes from staring at the computer -- it brings circulation to the area and relieves sinus pressure, eye strain, and headaches," says Dale Grust, President of the New York Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association and a licensed massage therapist in New Paltz, N.Y., for 23 years.

Close your eyes. Place your thumbs under your eyebrows, starting at the inside corner of each eye socket. Press and gently move the thumbs in tiny circles, working slowly towards the outsides of your eyebrows and continuing this movement all around your eyes, ending back at the bridge of your nose.
Repeat this several times, spending a little extra time at the indentation of the inner eye socket, where the bridge of the nose meets the ridge of the eyebrows - an especially tender point on many people.

Massage Therapy to Ease Headaches and Tension
Start by placing your thumbs on your cheekbones close to your ears, and use your fingertips to gently apply pressure and rub the temples (the soft spot between the corner of your eye and your ear).
Using very firm pressure and a tiny circular motion, gradually move your fingers up along your hairline until they meet in the middle of your forehead, massaging your entire forehead and scalp as you inch along.

Massage Therapy to Relax the Hands
Here are several moves that will relieve the strain from pounding the keyboard all day.

Stretch your hands and fingers out. Rub each finger from the base to the tip, gently pulling and twisting each finger as you go.
Next, rest your left hand, palm upward, on your lap. Squeeze the fleshy part of your palm between your right thumb and index finger, moving from your wrist to the base of your thumb.
Now squeeze that web between your left index finger and thumb several times, looking for any tender points.
Then rub the entire palm with your right thumb, applying firm pressure and using gliding strokes from the wrist to the base of each finger.
Repeat this process on your right hand.
"Massaging the hands is not only great for the hands but can help to relieve headaches as well," Grust says. The hands, like the feet, contain reflexology points that correspond to the entire body, including the head, neck, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and sinuses.
